“Go outside. The worst that can happen is a bear kills you.” – I saw this on a bumper sticker on an RV when we were driving from Montana to Wyoming, and it cracked me up. Plenty of time outside on this trip. No bear sightings. Check. For those counting,…

Even though I had the right permit for these hikes Even though I had the right permit for these hikes, here’s where I went wrong:📍Zion NP: If you are planning to visit outside of the shuttle season (approximately Nov-Feb), you will have to drive to the trailhead. But, be aware that the road to the trailhead can be closed to vehicles once parking has filled up. Moral of the story: Get there early before the road closes! 📍Arches NP: Verify whether the number of permits required is one per person, per group, or per car. 🙏 Learn from our mistakes! 💾SAVE this for your next trip to Utah 🗣️Let us know if you have done either of these hikes and how it went! 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. Counting down the days until another Euro summer b Counting down the days until another Euro summer begins! I’ve lost count of how many summers that we’ve gone to Europe, but I do know that our trips there seem to be getting longer each year (thanks in large part to Kurt’s ability to work remotely for part of the time). And, it’s surprising how much new there is for us to see and do, even after all of these years! Are you planning to visit Europe this summer? 🗣️COMMENT and let us know where! 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. Time to go back and make new memories in Sardinia Time to go back and make new memories in Sardinia this summer! We will be making our third trip to this Italian island, specifically to the archipelago of La Maddalena where my dad lives for the summer months. When to visit? July and August are high season. Expect heat and crowds. June and September are better. How to get there? Fly into Olbia and then take a short ferry from Palau to La Maddalena.Where to stay? Most of the hotels are located on the southern part of the island near the harbor. This is also where most restaurants and shops are located. What to do there? Look at that beautiful aquamarine water! Get in it!🚤Rent a gommoni for the day and cruise to the beaches around the islands🤿Get underwater with @area11_diving 🏖️Enjoy Testa di Polpo Beach and find out why it’s called Octopus Beach 🐙🇫🇷Take a day trip to Corsica via Santa Teresa🔁Bonifacio ferry Have you been to Sardinia? 🗣️COMMENT and let us know where! 💾SAVE for your next trip to La Maddalena! 💌SHARE this with a travel buddy who you want to visit Sardinia with! 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. We all walk different paths throughout our life. We all walk different paths throughout our life. Plan A led me to Plan B.And, I wouldn’t change a thing in my decision to close the professional chapter of my life early. The work will never stop. You just need to decide when you are ready to. Life on the other side of giving to others full-time has been more about giving to myself. Having adventures around the world with my favorite travel partner is the dream. And, I’m living it. 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. Follow @mohlments for outdoor adventures and bucket-list experiences around the world 🌍#mohlments #travel #seetheworld #midlife #earlyretirement
Wanna see a sloth? Go here ⬇️ 📍Bogarin Tra Wanna see a sloth? Go here ⬇️📍Bogarin Trail, La Fortuna, Costa Rica You can opt for a self-guided walk through the trail at your own pace ($20) or a tour with a guide who is experienced in locating the wildlife ($45). A perk of the 2 hour guided tour is the ability to use the guide’s telescope to get a better view of the animals when they are high in the trees (seen here).Keep your eyes peeled along the way for other animals too, including colorful birds, frogs, and iguanas. Of course, the sloths are the stars of the show though! How did you grow up? Was your life filled with cha How did you grow up? Was your life filled with change, and maybe even chaos? Or, was your life completely secure? Those early experiences likely inform the kind of traveler that you are today. Do you seek out uncertainty and challenge? Or, do you revel in the comfort of the familiar? And, how does that fit with your travel partner’s style? Share and discuss this with your fellow thrill seeker or your favorite person who likes to play it safe. As an anxious person, I’m always trying to face my fears and do it anyway (although, I draw the line at cage diving with great white sharks…that fear can stick with me to the grave 🪦). Even though Kurt is naturally higher on sensation-seeking than I am, I tend to surprise him with the level of adventure that I’m up for. Here’s how I’m getting ready for a fun summer Here’s how I’m getting ready for a fun summer of travel:🏡We gave our home security system an upgrade, so that we don’t have to worry while we are away.🛜 We discovered the benefits of pocket wifi during our recent trip to Japan where access to Google Maps was key to navigating public transport and Google Translate helped with ordering food. So, it just made sense to find something similar that would work when traveling to other international destinations. Enter @mysoliswifi which is cheaper than the cost of an international day pass from our phone carrier, works on multiple devices, and provides WiFi access around the world. 🍝Eating a gluten-free diet takes a lot of prep when traveling. @findmeglutenfree is a key resource for planning meals out. 💪 Whether it’s rafting, kayaking, or hiking, I want to make sure that I’m strong and fit so that I can enjoy myself throughout the trip.🥼I’ve never had so many doctor appointments until after I turned 45. The reality of getting older, I guess. We have always said that we want to do all the things now before we aren’t able to physically. So, taking care of our physical health is a priority in order to live the kind of adventurous life that we want.🤳I’m looking forward to upgrading my travel content on our upcoming trips, thanks to @djiglobal Stay tuned later this month! 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. Our most recent international trip was to Japan 🇯🇵 for the Tokyo Marathon 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻last month. We spent 2+ weeks there, and it certainly wasn’t enough time to fully take in everything. It is a country that we will definitely return to visit in the future! Anybody else get in a funk between big trips? We’ll be off exploring the world 🌍 again soon enough though, and I’ve (mostly) kept my wanderlust at bay with the anticipation and planning for what’s to come in the next few months. Looking forward to adding a couple of new passport stamps this summer! 📍Tombori River Cruise, Dotonbori, Osaka, Japan👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. I started this account on a whim a month ago while I started this account on a whim a month ago while I was waiting to board a flight. Kurt was leery about me creating a public account, but here we are anyway a month into this new venture. And, wow, have I learned a lot (and, obviously still have more to learn!). First, I’ve found my fellow wanderers. My personal (private) account is filled with life updates from friends and all things running. Looking at that page, you’d think that everyone just ran the Boston Marathon. But here, you’d think that everyone is hiking in the mountains; swimming in beautiful turquoise water; either living out of a camper van or staying in hostels while exploring the world, or living their best life in luxury hotels; making $$ with content creation that allows them to travel; and exploring remote destinations. It’s a completely different side of the internet 🤯.On the flip side of the algorithm showing different content based on my interests is just how difficult it is to get new content seen by others, regardless of whether it is to existing followers much less trying to develop a broader community. Regardless of whether anyone actually sees these posts, I am enjoying learning new skills with how to develop and edit content, and finding a new way to be creative in my post-retirement years. So, happy one month birthday @mohlments 🥳 Here’s to learning, sharing, and traveling more in the months ahead! 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. I can’t believe it took us so long to finally vi I can’t believe it took us so long to finally visit Africa. Obviously, the wildlife there is unmatched. What’s your end game? Kurt has the idea that w What’s your end game? Kurt has the idea that we’re going to live on a boat and cruise from port to port in the Med. Mind you, he doesn’t know the first thing about operating and maintaining a boat. I have insisted that we will need a home base on land if this dream of his happens. We currently spend 2-3 months (not all at once) out of the country (thanks to his ability to work remotely some and my strategic planning of his vacation days). While we hope to live abroad in the future, we recognize that there is a huge difference between traveling as a tourist vs navigating local systems as a resident. I don’t know how things will turn out. But, I sure hope we have fun figuring it out.👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa. Earth Day isn’t just one day. It’s every day. Earth Day isn’t just one day. It’s every day. We celebrate with every hike. Every dive. Every ride. Every run. Every paddle. Every camp. Every climb. Mother Nature provides us with so many different settings to play in. We need to take better care of her. During our stay at @reethifaru in the Maldives, we had the opportunity to plant a tree on the island. Maybe one day we’ll be able to go back and see how much it has grown! 👋🏼Hi, we’re Kurt & Melissa.
